Kempegowda Institute of Medical Science

Established in 1980 by Vokkaligara Sangha, Kempegowda Institute Of Medical Science(KIMS). This was officially affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Science (RGUHS) located in Bangalore. It is identified by the National Medical Commission (NMS) and the World Health Organisation (WHO).  It has gained a reputation for providing an excellent  medical education to the students with well settled healthcare services. 

In KIMS candidates get allotted by the marks they have opted for in the institution. KIMS  is one of the superior Medical Colleges in karnataka. It offers various specialisations in both undergraduate (MBBS) and postgraduate programs (MD, MS, and PG diploma). 

The institution runs modern medical facilities, with a well- stocked clinical laboratories,library, to enrich the academic environment. The Kempogowda Institute Of Medical Science provides sufficient clinical exposure to the candidates. Making sure that the candidate upholds the education during their academic year. 

There are two departments: pre-clinical and para- clinical departments.

The pre-clinical department is located in Banashankri 2nd stage near BDA complex and the para clinical department and KIMS hospital in Krishna Rajendra Road, Visveswarapuram, 4kms from the institute.

Furthermore , KIMS  has given importance to the healthcare services, it takes part in initiatives and works in social responsibility. The institution gives challenges to the candidate to be well prepared for the challenges in the medical field.

• KIMS provides an extensive hands on clinical experience for students in various specialities to the students with an attached hospital having a high patient load. 

• There are well qualified and experienced faculty in KIMS institute for candidates.

• The institute presents simple and good basic facilities to the candidates which includes well-equipped laboratories, air- conditioned lecture halls, a library and sports/ gym amenities. 

• KIMS is constantly identified by the National Medical Commission(NMC) and is associated with the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences(RGUHS)

• The institute has good connectivity that is surrounded with transport facilities  like buses and has a metro station. 

• The candidates have reported regarding the infrastructure including: power supply problems  in certain floors, non-working lifts, as some candidates face issues with the library as it is located in the higher floor of the college. 

• In the departments of forensic medicine, pediatrics and ophthalmology the reviewers have observed that there is a shortage in faculty members. 

• While the institute has received some negative feedback and some has praised the college, and from the student approach the fees paid for the institute is not so worth it. 

• Sometimes the staff members might not have the best attitude towards the patients.

• The candidates report that the institute does not provide salary for the internship.
