St.John’s Medical College

St. John’s Medical College was established in 1963 in Bengaluru by the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of India (CBCI) their intention is to train the healthcare personnel committed to serve the poor of the margin. It was committed as a memorial of the 38 International Eucharistic Congress held in Bombay in 1964 and it was named after St.Johns the Baptist, the Patron of the Pope John 23, was an ardent supporter who took efforts in the Catholic Church in India.

St.Johns National Academy of Health Sciences has been identified by the NAAC and it is approved by MCI, Government of India, the nursing college under is recognised by Indian Nursing College and Karnataka Nursing Council.The institute is affiliated to the RGUHS, Karnataka.And for the last ten years our institute is in the top 10 place among the medical college in country.

The National Assessment and Accreditation Council, a Review Committee of the university has granted commission, they have observed the excellence of SJMCH and has accorded 5 stars grading.

The institute is huge and beautiful, it has 140 acres of land and it is located in  Kormangala,Bengaluru.The college offers UG, PG, Super speciality, PhD, elective, fellowship courses. It has streams like: Medical, Nursing, and Allied Health Sciences, it has three associated colleges, they are: Medical College, Nursing College, and Allied Health Science College.

• The institute is run by the Catholics Bishops Conference of India. Its intention is to train healthcare professionals committed to service, especially to help the poor and disadvantaged patients. Their mission is to combine into its curriculum and culture.

• The SJMC Bangalore has a large 1350+ beds teaching hospitals, which is an important referral centre for various specialities and super specialities. This offers students a hands- on experience and gets to learn patients' cases from early in their studies.

• Its mandatory rural service for graduates, it makes sure to  give experience in community health settings and motivates students to work in health-poor areas, the strength of the institute.

• The institute showcases experienced and  Knowledgeable faculty members who are even active clinicians. It is a green campus, and it is large, the campus has wifi connectivity with well-equipped labs, libraries, and modern facilities.

• SJMC Bangalore is ranked as a top ten medical college among the colleges in India and it has also received 5- star grading from the NAAC.

• The college has strongly supported research and provides opportunities for multidisciplinary collaboration, while it is not mandatory for all the programs. 

• The strict training that is provided can become a burden and can cause difficulties with work-life balance, particularly to the senior residents and postgraduates. 

• While fulfilling the college's intention, the mandatory rural bond service will be a point of consideration for candidates to plan their career immediately. 

• While overall infrastructure of the college is good, some reviews point to specific issues like sometimes water shortage in hostels or a lack of digitally enabled administrative process.

• According to some students' reviews, some departments may revise course and exam material, so that they can be more clinically focused. 

• The campus that is surrounded by the area is so high in range, and it is not always provided.
