About KCET

KCET stands for Karnataka Common Entrance Test 2026, commonly called KCET. The exam is conducted by the Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA). It provides education to the Undergraduates (UG) for the courses such as Engineering, Pharmacy, Agriculture, and other professional programmes. These programmes are offered in colleges of Karnataka for the year 2026 academic session. The exam is known as UGCET. 

Every year thousands of  applicants take part in the very tough KCET Exam. To grant the admission for the applicants the Karnataka Colleges utilize the results of the KCET exam, which will be outdated in the month of April, or May, whether needed to accommodate the students in the campus. 

Furthermore, the exam is conducted offline mode which is pen and paper /OMR (Optical Mark Recognition) based. The exam lies on the 4 subjects for which the applicants will be completing it within 2 days.

Eligibility Criteria

Before applying for the exam, the candidates need to understand the eligibility criteria for the KCET exam, to get admission in the UG Degree, candidates need to kindly follow the procedure of eligibility criteria:

  • Candidates joining the KCET exam must be a citizen of India .

  • Candidates should have passed their 10+2 with an intermediate exam, whereas candidates who are awaiting the result of 12th can also apply for the exam.

  • Candidates who have passed 12th from the Karnataka State Open University will not be eligible to write the exam.

  • During the 12th grade year, candidates must take physics and maths as the required subjects, along with that, chemistry, Biotechnology, biology, electronics, or computer science and English as their second language. 

 

ESSENTIAL DOCUMENTS FOR REGISTRATION : 

The candidates need to fill up the application process with the given documents that are mentioned below , follow the procedure to complete it : 

  • Class 10th marks card.

  • Class 12th marks sheet .

  • Scanned photos of recent photographs, signature, and thumb impression of left hand .

  • Income / caste certificate , reservation certificate (it may be required for the RD number if applicable).

  • Kannada Medium Certificate 

  • Rural Study Certificate 

  • Hyderabad Karnataka Certificate 

  • Special Category Certificate 

  • Non - creamy Layer Certificate (NCLC)

Exam Pattern

Selection Process

The application form for the KCET Exam is conducted by the KEA. The candidates need to fill the form and submit the form in the online mode. The candidates must pay the application fees based on their category. Follow the steps to fill the form : 

  • First login into the official website of KEA (Karnataka Examination Authority).

  • Click on the application of UGCET 2026.

  • Click on to the new user, click on the register option.

  • Fill up all the academics and personal information, complete the registration and submit it.

  • Once done with the registration process, on the screen the Application Number and User ID will be displayed, as candidates will be receiving the same Application Number and User ID on their registered mobile number.

  • Thoroughly check out the necessary details carefully and click on to the declaration tick box.

  • At last, candidates need to take a set of print out of the application form. 

Preparation Tips

Preparing for the KCET Exam, is tough, to score high, to crack well, to fix in mind, to be confident enough, follow the steps that are proceed below, so that you can manage the time easily and score well in the exam: 

  • Go through the syllabus and exam pattern: As the KEA has released the syllabus for the KCET Exam, candidates can go through it, and download the PDF, for clarity in the study process and schedule the timing wisely.

  • Make study timing : Add all the 4 subjects in the study plan, give equal time to every subject, focus on every subject, chapters, diagrams, avoid the burnout, and complete the studies fully.

  • Refer NCERT Books : Meanwhile, refer to the highly recommended mastering NCERT books, that helps in the core concepts of Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Mathematics. Whereas the chapters are taken from the 11th and 12th std textbooks to provide a solid foundation.

  • Use the right reference books : By using the right reference books the candidates can speed up their reading process.

  • Practice from previous year paper and mock test : Prepare from the last year question paper and do the mock test, so that you will be familiarised with the exam format and you will get an idea to prepare. On the other hand, online mock tests and coaching centres also offer practice sessions.
