Rajiv Gandhi Medical College Thane was established in 1992 it is located in the heart of Maharashtra in a city called Thane. It was started in an aim to provide a quality of medical education to the students. The college was originally identified/approved by the Medical Council of India (MCI), and it is officially affiliated to Maharashtra University of Health Science (MUHS), Nashik.

The RGMC Thane is founded under the Government Medical College, and is basically run by the Thane Municipal Corporation. The campus size spans 14 acres of green land. Within this 14 acres of land the college has established academic and hostel building along with an associated infrastructure.

The RGMC Thane provides an MBBS Course, and MD/MS courses. The PG course has taken various specialisations. In 2018 the seat intake for the MBBS Program was 60, and in 2019 it ranged to 80 students. The seat intake for the MD/MS - is 50. The associated hospital Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Hospital is ranked as the 6th position in Maharashtra and first was ranked in Thane than in Mumbai Suburban.

Eligibility Criteria and Admission Process:

The eligibility criteria of the college goes on the basis of the candidates merit - based entrance exam respectively. Eligibility Criteria

MBBS

• The candidates must have qualified in the class 10+2 level.

• The candidates of general category should have scored 50%, and reserved category candidates must have scored 40% in Physics, Chemistry, Biology (PCB) along with English Language.

• The age limit must be 17 or must have crossed 17 before 31st December 

MD/MS

• Secured MBBS Degree: Candidates should hold an MBBS Degree with minimum 50% aggregate and should be identified by NMC.

• Internship: Must have completed one - year rotary residential internship.

Admission Process

MBBS

• The MBBS program admission requires candidates to appear for NEET UG exam and pass it.

• Following the NEET UG exam, they must also register for MCC (All India Quota seats)/Maharashtra State CET Cell (State quota seats) counselling.

• At the time of choice filling, they must fill the preferred college name i.e. IGGMC Nagpur.

• The NEET rank along with the reservation rules and the availability of seats determines which candidates will be allotted a seat at RGMC Thane.

• Once they are allotted a seat, they must report to college to verify their documents, pay the required fee, after which their admission will be confirmed.

MD/MS

• The candidates must qualify NEET PG.

• They must register for counselling through MCC (All India Quota) or Maharashtra State CET Cell counselling.

• During counselling, the candidates must select their preferred MD/MS specialisations and IGGMC.

• The NEET PG rank, reservation norms, and availability are the only parameters that determine the allocation of seats.

• Admission is finalized only after the candidate reports to the institute, verifies their documents, and pays the fees.

• If the date of birth is not listed on the HSC mark sheet or certificate, a copy of the birth certificate can be used as proof of age.

• A copy of a passport, Aadhar card, PAN card, or driving license (self-attested photocopy after checking with the original documents) or a certificate bearing an attested photo from the head of the institution where the student last attended are examples of photo identity proof.

• A copy of the certificate of registration for online counseling.

• State Government Sponsorship Certificate, if applicable.
