Manipal College of Dental Sciences (MCODS) was established in 1965, it is a private self-financing institution, started by the T.M.A.Pai and it is managed by the Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE). It is located in Manipal. The college is accredited by NAAC with an A++ grade. The MCODS institute is identified by the Malaysian Dental Council and Kathmandu University. 

The MCODS is mainly known as the College of Dental, the first dental college in India. It spans 313 acres of green lush land and it is ranked as the 5th and 2nd for its best Dental College in India. It has three main goals and objectives, which help the students secure maturity, knowledgeable , skilful, and responsive dentists. And make them to survive the patients and society.

It mainly aims to serve the global challenges in future. The courses that the college offers are designed with an objective to help pursue a career in general dentistry and specialization. It offers BDS UG and PG courses in Dental Hygienist, and others. The college has offered facilities such as : seminars, Guest lectures, and workshops to provide practical experience to the students. 

Apart from this the college has made a connection with the prestigious universities like: IOWA, UNICAMP Brazil, University of Peradeniya, University of Sydney, Boston University and the School of Clinical Dentistry, University of Sheffield.
