BDS stands for Bachelor of Dental Surgery, a professional undergraduate program that qualifies a student to make a career in dentistry and oral health sciences. The BDS course is basically the primary dental qualification in India, trains the student with an extensive approach about the structure, function and diseases of teeth and gums and the oral cavity. It combines theoretical teachings and clinical training to gradually progress students from basic biomedical subjects to advanced dental operations. In addition, the program has hands-on exposure in oral pathology, conservative dentistry, orthodontics, periodontics, prosthodontics and oral surgery throughout the program to allow the student to manage teeth damage and improve oral health diagnosis, prevention and treatments.
