Government Dental College and Research Institute, Bangalore was founded in 1958, by Dr. S.Ramachandra and is managed by the Government of Karnataka. It was higher to offer a high - standard of education in the department of Dentistry. The college GDCRI Bangalore, was announced to be an autonomous institute in 2007 by the Government of Karnataka.

The GDCRI Bangalore, is affiliated to the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Science (RGUHS). The campus size of the college is 5 acres of green land. Within this 5 acres of land it has a college and dental building, hostel and cafeteria, area allotted for sports.
