The Belgaum Institute of Medical Sciences (BIMS), Belgaum was prominently introduced by the Government of Karnataka in the 2005-2006 academic year. Meanwhile the college is managed by an autonomous body working under the government of Karnataka. The BIMS Belgaum is basically an government medical institution situated in the city of Belagavi, Karnataka. The college has the objectives of strengthening the medical system and bringing changes among the healthcare services in the northern part of the state.

The BIMS, Belgaum is situated within the district civil hospital Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Road, which offers students a massive early learning and extensive clinical training. The BIMS is an autonomous institution affiliated with Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) and is identified by the National Medical Commission. The college initially started the programs with a seat count of 100 for MBBS program, then later got increased into 150 seats, which is showcasing its positive answer in growing and building up the demand among the aspirants.

Over the decades, the college elaborated the academics by offering PG (MD/MS) along with nursing and paramedical programs. The BIMS spans around 25 acres of land, including facilities like : lecture halls, laboratories, museums, a central library, hostels and auditorium. Eligibility Criteria and Admission Process: 

The UG and PG courses that are undertaken by the BIMS, Belgaum. The eligible candidates will be guided based on their merits obtained in their respective entrance exam. The merit-based seat allotment for MBBS, MD/MS Program, the counselling process will be conducted by the KEA-Karnataka Examination Authority. Eligibility Criteria:

MBBS

• The candidates belonging to general category and joining the MBBS Program must have qualified in the core subjects :Physics, Chemistry, Biology with English Language of  50% aggregate.

• For the reserved category candidates (SC/ST/OBC) must have qualified with an aggregate of 40% in the above mentioned subjects.

• The candidates must be 17 years old or should have crossed 17 years before the 31st December.

MD/MS

• The candidates joining the MD/MS Program must uphold an MBBS Degree with an aggregate of 50% from an identified medical college.

• The candidates must have completed the one year mandatory rotary residential internship before the prescribed admission date.

• The age limit to join must be 17 years old or must have crossed the age before the 31st December.

Admission Process

To join the MBBS, MD/MS Program, follow the below mentioned admission process of BIMS, Belgaum:

MBBS

• The candidates need to clear the NEET-UG entrance exam conducted by the NTA and get qualified in it.

• Once the candidates are qualified, they get registered in the KEA official portal for counselling.

• Seat allotment process will be based on the candidates score in NEET UG, reservation category, and quota (Government / Private / NRI).

• During the choice selection, keep your first preference on BIMS, Belgaum and choose the MBBS course.

• Report to the college on a prescribed date, submit your original documents, and the tuition fees.

MD/MS 

• Candidates must clear the NEET PG entrance exam conducted by the NTA.

Strength 

• Clinical Exposure : Being a government hospital, it manages the high patient volume (1,000 bed capacity), offering superior, different clinical cases and exposure to the students. 

• Reputation & Affiliation : The college has mainly been identified by the National Medical Commission and has been offering UG and PG courses.
