AJ Institute of Dental Sciences, Mangalore

Established in 2002, AJ Institute of Dental Sciences, Mangalore was founded by the educationist Dr.A.J.Shetty.  It is managed by the Laxmi Memorial Education Trust.  The AJIDS Mangalore, is a private institution located in the heart of Mangalore city. Its main vision is to become a prestigious center for its superiority in developing the academics of dentistry that blends both the holistic education with professional outcomes to humanitarian values. 

The AJIDS has 5 acres of green land, within this 5 acres it has college and hostel building, cafeteria, area for sports, and hostel canteen. The college is affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Science Bangalore and it has been approved /recognised by Dental Council of India (DCI). 

The college has offered BDS-UG, MDS (PG) programs to the students. The seat intake for the programs are : BDS - 100 seats, MDS - 51 seats. The candidates need to enter through the entrance exam NEET UG and NEET MDS. With  the following regular campus, it even does research work, seminars and workshops. The institution plays important roles in taking care of patients, ethical practice, community outreach programs, and continuously working on developing skills. 

The AJIDS has good placement records where graduates have successfully reached their goal from this campus with the help of clinical practice, academics, and public health.  The curriculum assists the students in preparing them for competitive exams and higher education to get more job offers in India and abroad. 

The most exciting part of  AJIDS is having highly qualified experienced faculty, many of the faculty get involved in the research and clinical practice. During the teaching the faculty maintains methods for both theoretical knowledge with practice exposure, while they make sure that the candidates are prepared for the professionals' posts. • Strong PG Program : The curriculum offers all the 10 specialisation in PG department for PG candidates, with discipline job placement. 

• High Student Quota : Some students' feedback says that because of the low patient volume students are not able to complete the required quota they may feel difficult.

• Strict Rules : AJIDS institute is strict when it comes to academics performance and attendance, by which some of the students find it strain. 

• Hostel Condition : The boys hostels are well - maintained and even provided individual bathrooms meanwhile in girls hotels some have reported there are poor conditions of facilities. 

• Limited Independent Practice Initially : The Undergraduates Students during their last early years did not initially work for patients but were practising in dummies.

• High fees alert : The AJIDS is a private institution, fees structure for the BDS (UG) approximately ranges from 11-20 lakhs and MDS (PG) is very high.
