On the 23rd June 1946, the Byramjee Jeejeebhoy Government Medical College was founded and replaced erstwhile B.J. Medical School, with the head of the Bombay government Shri.B.G Kher. laying the foundation stone. This was the fulfillment of the vision of a far sighted Parsi philanthropist Byramjee Jeejeebhoy, his aim was to build an institution in pune for training of doctors and providing medical facilities par with those in Bombay.
His generosity and munificence made it possible for the B J Medical to start working from 1871 on land donated by him, and when the school got upgraded to the college in 1946, quietly filtering the name was retained.The MBBS (Undergraduate program) got affiliated by the University of Poona(Pune) in 1949.

Eligibility and Admission Process:
All the Undergraduates,Postgraduates and Super Speciality programs admitted to BJGMC Pune are guided to the students based on merits in their respective entrance exam. The merit based seat allotment for the MBBS course and MD/MS program is conducted by the Directorate of Medical and research (DMER). And for the DM/MCh/DNB merit based seat allotment counselling process is done by the Directorate of Medical and research (DMER). The selection for the program will be done on the basis of selection and eligibility criteria steps to be followed:
Eligibility:
MBBS
Firstly, the candidate must be 17 Years old or must turn 17 years before 31st December for the admission in the Program MBBS.
The aspirant should have qualified in the intermediate exams of 10+2 with the core subjects like: Physics,Chemistry,Biology and Mathematics with an English Language and should have scored at least 45% in the above mentioned subjects.
The aspirant has to do a pre-professional training before admission to join the medical colleges.
MD/MS
The candidate must have pursued a Bachelor's degree in MBBS from an institution that is identified by the National Medical Commission(NMC).
The candidate must have a valid MBBS degree or provisional pass certificate.
The internship should be done as it is mandatory for every student and it should be before the admission date as per the counselling notification.
DM/MCh/DNB
DM/MCh
The aspirant must have an MD/MS or should have an equivalent postgraduate qualification from an institution that is identified by the National Medical Commission(NMC).
The candidate must have done the registration with NMC or State Medical Council (e.g Maharashtra Medical Council) if it is required.
If you have done the original registration from another state also, you need to do the registration with the Maharashtra Council for the joining purpose.
DNB
The candidatal registration with the NMC or the State Medical Council must be done.
The candidate must uphold a MD/MS or equivalent postgraduate qualification from an institution which is recognised by the NMC/NBE to be eligible for a DNB Super-Speciality Program.
For the DNB program the candidates must clear the DNB Central Entrance Test (DNB CET) or NEET-SS.
Admission Process:
